A Bit About Me

This is me  (I really hate getting my picture taken, but I love taking pictures!)

This is my family  (with another on the way....)
and here she is!  born january 20, 2014

Some of the early photos on my blog were taken by my husband, Steve.  The rest are by me.  We are active arts and crafty creative people who love to make things and take pictures.  We live in the woods outside of Duluth, Minnesota with our girls and our various animals and plants.  For fun I am cooking, baking, playing outside or collecting music and treasures.  For work I manage a program for adults that have suffered traumatic brain injuries.  You can find more about me here and in my photo album...You can learn more about me than you'd ever need to know here...and check out my adventures in learning to bake and blog on The Daring Baker's Club page on the top bar.

I have recently completed my first cookbook, titled An Everyday Cook and a Sunday Baker's Cookbook, which you can purchase on the Buy My Cookbook page on the top bar.

Thanks for checking out my blog, and enjoy your day!

  4. I see that you are from Minnesota, so couldn't help but share my website with you. In addition to the Visit Minnesota site, I have a potato recipe site: http://www.best-potato-recipes.com

Both site have some places where you can share your recipes, Minnesota travel tips, etc. I can link back to you if you do. Best regards!

  5. Hello!

I am writing to you to inquire about using two or three recipes from your blog in a new Harris food publication.

"Best Cast-Iron Cooking" will feature 100-plus recipes from national food associations, food companies, and cookbook authors, and bloggers! The nationally distributed newsstand magazine goes on sale next November, and is expected to sell to approximately 125,000 consumers.

When browsing your blog, I noticed you are a fan of cast-iron cooking! Would you like to be featured in the magazine along with your recipes? If so, do you have hi-res images available for each recipe? We will of course provide your blog with full credit for your recipes and photos. For participating bloggers, Harris can provide modest payment, based on the number of recipes and images available.

I appreciate your consideration of this request. And I hope to hear from you soon with a few recipe suggestions!
    Sincerely,
Joy Taylor Wolf, independent food writer for Harris Publications
    And former blogger at HugsintheKitchen.com

  6. Hi Hannah, I have just discovered your beautiful Apple Cinnamon Bread, and I am going to try and make it myself tomorrow. I am a 77 year old from Australia, and this year I enrolled in a TAFE baking course. I am having a great time learning with baker apprentices how to make food for a bakery. I have grown to love making bread and enjoy the really creative works of food art that the WWW makes available to me in my kitchen. Thank you for sharing. I hope to look out the rest of your blog over the next few months. If I can, and I am a bit of a technological Luddite, I will try and send you a picture of what I make. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas. Best Wishes, Chris

    1. Hi Chris! I hope you enjoy your baking today! I wanted to note, I remember this part of the recipe "Turn off the oven and let it rest in there for up to 30 minutes so your frangipane sets up and the apples cook." caused the bread to dry out a bit. If I were to do it again I would use a softer fruit and butter or something, and not the frangipane that required additional baking when the bread was done. I only made this bread once, and it looked perfect but the bake wasn't perfect! Hopefully you have better luck :) Cheers
